Haterz gonna hate.

I just got back from a wonderful evening with my family, which was quickly ruined by a few disheartening and frankly rude comments on my "Religious Humor" post.

Call me crazy, but I went ahead and deleted said posts, which even went so far as to call me "digusting." I don't appreciate personal attacks on my own blog as I'm sure you wouldn't either. You know who you are. If you want to trash me and other Mormons, there are plenty of other outlets on the Web where you can do that. You don't even have to look hard to find them.

Second, I've already cleared this up in the comments of that post, but I guess I'm going to have to again, where everyone can see it: I am not even trying to compare the mistreatment of European Jews in the 1930's-40's to the mistreatment of Mormons today. My more perceptive readers have picked up on this, but some of the more close-minded have not. In case you've missed the crux of my post, I will restate it. It can be summed up in one sentence:

"It sickens me that not even 100 years [after the Holocaust], society has already seemed to forget how a small seed of distaste for a particular religious group can quickly grow into a forest of hatred."

If you want to see my post as something else -- a far-fetched comparison between the Holocaust and a stupid play, as some of you have grossly misjudged, that's within your right. It's also within my right to call your B.S. and delete it. All's fair in love and war.

Also, I've disallowed anonymous comments for obvious reasons. It's so easy to spew your venom when you're hiding behind a mask of anonymity, isn't it?

Peace out.

  1. Good for you, Jenna. The first rude comment that ever came onto my blog made me so sad but now I realize there will always be people that disagree with me, no matter the topic.
Of course, my rude commenter was anonymous too. :) COWARDS!

  2. Jenna, I'm so sorry you are dealing with this! I can't stand anonymous haters and I get them more than I like. I disabled mine for a bit but had to re-enable it when blogger went all wacko. I may re-enable the anonymous blocker soon though. I love you and what you have to say and totally get what you are saying.

just remember, for every hater you have a few hundred other people who LOVE you! They are the minority! :)

  3. I'll cut whoever you need me to!!! Sometimes I hate the internet... people can say WHATEVER they want. But would they say it to your face?? NOPE. Straight up cowardly right there. And really...

  6. I'm sorry Jenna. I enjoyed your post a lot. It stinks that some people are unable to except other people's point of view and have to say rude things to get their point across.

  7. Hey I know Megs! She and I went to college together. Small world. I hope my comment didn't offend anyone; I was sort of passionate about that illegal immigrants comment. I'm not a fan of comments with little argument to back them up. I found your blog through my friend Natalie and I enjoy it! Hope you don't think I'm a crazy stalker. I'm also LDS and my blog is not private; but it's probably not as interesting as yours! And yes, I didn't appreciate those rude anonymous, LDS-slaughtering comments either. People will be people.

  8. I think you are such an intelligent and nice person. Blogging and opinions are tricky. I try to stick to the nice, stuff, too. But anonymous comments should be banned. People need to write under their names!

  10. At least you got some major buzz going. Your words are powerful and you don't need to explain yourself to anyone or any anonymous persons. Say what you want to say and let them leave their comments because those silly people can't hurt you! You are strong. And I think it's a little flattering that you got some anonymous comments. Only professional bloggers get things like that. Stay tough, friend.

  12. This is so interesting. I posted something with the exact same title today. Ha ha. Must be that kind of week, huh?

What you said earlier, in your religious post, was very important. The force which drove you to post that, and the force which drove the commenters are clearly in opposition. I think it's admirable that you have stood your ground.

  13. Not a bit cool. What is cool is the honest expression of your views on this blog. Even when I disagree with you (which is rare) I still love to read your commentaries, including the Religious Humor post.
