If this is the first time you've clicked on my blog since Monday afternoon, you might be wondering if you're in the right place. Yep, I gave my little ol' blog a bit of a facelift and she's looking lovely, I must say. And yes, I'm entrepreneurial (read: cheap) so I did it all by myself. My mom says I've been using that phrase ("All by myself!") since I was 2 years old and I apparently haven't given up the DIY mentality yet!
While doing this blog makeover, the thought came to me that so many of you comment on my blog but I can't respond to you because you don't have your e-mail address linked to your Blogger account! When your comment pops up in my inbox, I see your fantastic name, followed by the disheartening "noreply-comment@blogger.com" as your e-mail address. AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!
Here's the deal: I LOVE my readers in general, and I want to respond to you when you take the time to leave a heartfelt comment or question on my blog. It's easiest for me to do this via e-mail, and I basically don't have the time to do it any other way (unless I really heart you). Lucky for you, I'm going to show you exactly how to link your e-mail to your account ... RIGHT NOW!!! Then you'll be able to start receiving e-mail responses c/o Yours Truly.
1) Go into your Blogger dashboard. In the top right corner, you'll see your name and maybe a picture of yourself. Click on the arrow and choose "Blogger profile" from the drop-down menu.
2) On the next page, you'll see your lovely mug/profile picture on the left and an orange "Edit Profile" button on the right. Go ahead and admire your beauty and then click on the orange button.
3) In the top section titled "Privacy," check the box next to "Show my e-mail address." You can change your e-mail address in the "Identity" section (just below) if you need to.
And that's it!
Now, what if you don't WANT your e-mail address known to mankind? Well, there are a couple of solutions. One: you simply choose not to show your e-mail address. It's cool. Bloggers may not respond to your comments. You have to be OK with that. If not ...
Two: you can create an e-mail address specifically for blog comment responses. There are dozens of free e-mail providers out there. After you create this new address, enter it into the Identity section I mentioned before. Et voila.
Next time you leave a comment on my blog, expect to get a little e-mail surprise from Mom, the Intern!
ha ha, weird! I did the exact same post today :) great minds think alike I guess. New design looks great!
ReplyDeletethat is my PET PEEVE!!! Especially during giveaways. Sheesh.
ReplyDeleteAnd I do expect a response ;)
I hate that, too! Next up (if you're open to suggestions!) should be how to get rid of that ridiculous word verification hassle that one has to go through to post a simple comment. No lie--yesterday it took me 6 freaking tries to get my comment to post on a friend's blog! It's not worth it to comment on a blog if I spend more time proving I'm not a robot than I do writing the actual comment. First world problems. And then maybe you should address people who leave unbelievably long, rambling comments like this one. :)
